100 artists open their doors in the Mile-End
At the 5455, de Gaspé Building, 47 artists et 3 artist-run centres open their creation spaces.

Organisé par le Centre Clark, en collaboration avec Ubisoft Montréal, Ateliers Portes Ouvertes (A.P.O.) du Mile-End regroupait plus d'une centaine d'artistes dans leurs ateliers ayant pignon sur rue dans le secteur du Mile-End, le 23, 24 et 25 mai 2008.

Vendredi 23 mai - Lancement d'une publication : Agence TOPO : 10 ans de création pour le Web

Lors de l'A.P.O., Agence TOPO ouvrait ses portes toutes grandes au public et lançait une publication pour souligner 10 ans d'occupation de l'Internet et d'expérimentation des potentiels narratifs et interactifs de ce nouveau média. À travers huit oeuvres collectives qui mettent en valeur différentes disciplines, divers procédés scénaristiques et dispositifs technologiques, l'auteure et commissaire Sylvie Parent évoque cette décennie qui a vu s'élaborer l'art web et les technologies afférentes.

Samedi 24 mai - Atelier de dessin en réseau avec le logiel LopArt Duo
avec les artistes Véronique Tifo, Chantal Bélanger, Kit Malo, Julien Ceccaldi, Nancy Perron. Atelier animé par Melissa Samson.

Pour une deuxième fois, Agence TOPO reprend cette expérience de dessin partagé, d'animation et de communautique avec ce logiciel de création d'images inspiré des outils traditionnels de dessin et de peinture. L'atelier s'est déroulé lors de l'événement A.P.O. Ateliers Portes Ouvertes et des dizaines de visiteurs ont pu assister sur place à cette expérience inusitée de dialogue par le dessin, 2 artistes pouvant contribuer simultanément à la création de la même image en lui greffant par ailleurs des éléments animés. Durant la fin de semaine, des dizaines de visiteurs ont pu voir en projection les divers projets web de l'Agence TOPO et consulter les titres de notre Vitrine de titres électroniques sur CD/DVD rom et vidéo. En présentant les artistes dans leurs lieux de création, A.P.O. offrait une visite privilégiée, humaine et compréhensive de l'univers d'une centaine d'artistes professionnels oeuvrant dans la grande famille des arts visuels et médiatiques. Agence TOPO presents VÉVÉ, a web art project by Sofian Audry, at the 10th International Festival of Litterature Montreal Blue Metropolis, from April 30 to May 4, 2008

The 2008 International Festival of Litterature Blue Metropolis was hosting the new web art work VÉVÉ by artist Sofian Audry. This project of generative and interactive poetry is resulting from Sofian Audry's artist residency at the artist-run centre Agence TOPO. Audio artist Alexandre Quessy also contributed to this project with his musical signature

About VÉVÉ, a generative and interactive poetry project
Words are but amalgams of letters. It is the relationship between words that gives them life and meaning. In this project, visitors contribute to the creation of dialogical entities called vŽvŽs, taking a conversation based on the simple exchange of words. From this dialogue, the vŽvŽs learn, become more complex and evolve. They seem to be animated by their own will.

Opening space to digital litterature
All along the festival, VÉVÉ was accessible in a friendly and cosy space at Hotel Delta, allowing visitors and invited authors to play, create their own vévé and teach it words making sense one with the other. Notably with the presentation of this work, the Blue Metropolis Festival offered to the public an occasion to discover a new dimension of litterature, one that lives through technology and interactive processes. Two round tables on this topic will be held on Saturday May 3, 2008, one in French and the other one in English. For Agence TOPO, this participation at Blue Metropolis marked an important point after one year of involvement in promoting digital writing through the organization of the Sortir de l'écran/Spoken Screen series of conferences and hypermedia performances, in collaboration with the NT2 Laboratory (new technologies, new textualities) at UQAM.

Studio d'Essai de la coopérative Méduse (Québec)

Dans le cadre de la 9e édition du Festival de cinéma des 3 Amériques, Agence TOPO , Antitube et La Bande Vidéo s'associaient pour présenter plusieurs facettes du projet installatif et performatif Post-Audio, conçu et dirigé par l'artiste Gennaro De Pasquale. Depuis 2004, TOPO agit comme coproducteur et diffuseur de ce projet, après avoir notamment produit et réalisé le site Internet Post-Audio NetLab, une plateforme interactive adaptée de l'installation initiale Post-Audio_Esthetic à la galerie Clark (Montréal, 2000), participé au festival Digifest (Toronto, 2005) et publié Post-Audio_DVD (2006), une compilation d'œuvres audiovisuelles. Dans le cadre exceptionnel du Studio d'Essai de Méduse, à Québec, Post-Audio_installation regroupait ces réalisations, la mise en espace de vidéos de De Pasquale et les performances audiovisuelles en direct de 5mm et Parallaxe. Ce rendez-vous dans l'univers musical de Post-Audio venait donc marquer un point culminant de notre collaboration avec De Pasquale et le projet Post-Audio. La présentation de cette installation à Québec, avec toutes ses composantes – web, vidéo et performances – a été rendu possible grâce au soutien des partenaires et du Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec.

SORTIR DE L'ÉCRAN / SPOKEN SCREEN, a series of performances and conferences on hypermedia works with four artists from Chicago, Montpellier, Montréal and New York.

Sortir de l'écran / Spoken Screen is a joint initiative between Agence TOPO and Laboratoire de recherche NT2. For 2007-2008, 4 artists, each of whom integrate interactive media with their literary, performance, cinema and video based practices, have been invited to present works combining a live performance with new media projections (video and computer based).

The series host Michelle Citron from Chicago (October 17-18, 2007), Aya Karpinska from New-Tork (December 5-6, 2007), Yannick B. Gélinas from Montréal (February 13-14, 2008) and Annie Abrahams from Montpellier (March 26-27, 2008).

Agence TOPO presents a new web art project : MES / MY CONTACTS

The web lends itself easily to the constructed identity and brings up many questions as to what is true or false in the information offered by the people who stage it:  the web has become a relational tool with which individuals try to forge closer relations.

Curator Élène Tremblay has invited four artists who have developed fictitious identities in their practices to create works where these probable identities could spread. Net surfers will be invited to discover them, to witness fragments of their life and to form relationships with them, in a context where certain doubts could arise as to the existence of these characters.

The artists, Marie-Josée Hardy, Maryse Larivière, Marcio Lana-Lopez and James Prior, pose as characters being telephoned by the owner of a lost cell phone. Their names, telephone numbers and other personal information appear on the menu of the cell phone, which serves as an interface to contact each of them, at least with the accessible elements of their personae.

ASTRES/STARS/GOLEUADAU (2006 - 2007)

Astres/Stars/Goleuadau : E-Poetry 2007

Michel Lefebvre, Eva Quintas et Childe Roland presented Astres/Stars/Goleuadau at the festival E-Poetry 2007 in Paris. The presentation/performance (see QuickTime video) took place on May 2007 at Point Éphémère. The festival was a great opportunity for Agence TOPO to highlight the work of Quebec artists within the international E-Poetry community In 2007-2008, Agence TOPO will collaborate with NT2 lab (New Textualities / New Technologies) from the UQAM and host a series of 4 events of e-literature that will take place at the Powerhouse - La Centrale gallery (Montréal) with the artists Michelle Citron (USA), Aya Karpinska (USA), Yannick B. Gélinas (Québec/Canada) and Annie Abrahams (France/Holland).

The site was launched at Gallery Espace (Montréal, Canada) in February 2006 within the festival Voix d'Amériques and presented as an installation in the Project room of the Harbourfront Center (Toronto, Canada) in September 2006.

Training Program - DVD-FOLIO (2006-2007)

Agence Topo and Vidéographe Production invite each year 10 Montreal-based artists to participate to the training program DVD-Folio, a unique opportunity to explore the interactive potentiel of the DVD vidéo, the software DVD Studio Pro and the production process of a DVD. Next training will take place at the end of 2007.

POST-AUDIO_DVD (2006-2007) Following an invitation from ArtEngine, Michel Lefebvre and Gennaro De Pasquale went to Ottawa to present Agence TOPO and Post-Audio_DVD. The video projection was followed by a music program. VERANO (2007) Creation : Isabelle Bernier Co-production : Agence TOPO (fall 2005 - winter 2006) « Verano » (« summer ») was started by Isabelle Bernier in 2005 during a residency in Mexico at the multimedia center of the Centro national de las artes. She ended the work with the support of Agence TOPO that host her in residency. The launch took place at the gallery Powerhouse / La Centrale in March 2007.

2e RENCONTRES INTERNATIONALES D'ART CONTEMPORAIN DE CHIZÉ (2004)

L'Agence TOPO a présenté une programmation canadienne en nouveaux médias dans le cadre des 2e Rencontres internationales d'art contemporain de Chizé, événement qui s'est tenu du 23 au 26 juillet 2004 dans le village de Chizé, situé en Deux-Sèvres, dans la région de Poitou-Charentes, France.

Pendant quatre jours, le village fut transformé en site de création accueillant une dizaine d'expositions, des concerts, de même qu'un symposium en plein air où 50 artistes venus des cinq continents faisant pour le grand public, un état des lieux de la création contemporaine.

Viva Chizé ! misa sur les notions de collaboration, de participation, d'interaction, de rencontre et de fête. La programmation fut organisée essentiellement autour d'un volet de création in situ et d'un volet d'exposition d'oeuvres vidéo, web et cédérom.

L'événement fut réalisé en partenariat avec le Comité d'animation des Fêtes de Chizé. Il bénéficia du soutien de l'Ambassade du Canada dans le cadre du programme de célébrations Canada-France 1604-2004 et de l'Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ).
